Project overview
Glance is a business management platform that brings together the essential tools businesses need for their day-to-day operations - from client management, documents, and payments to calendars, tasks, expenses, inventory, and reporting. The platform is designed to replace fragmented workflows across multiple tools with one clear, unified workspace, helping business owners and teams manage complex processes in a simpler and more efficient way.
The Problem
Creating an invoice or other financial document often requires information that is not immediately available. A user might start filling out the document and then realize they need to check a customer's details, look up a previous transaction, or find information elsewhere in the system. Closing the form meant interrupting the task - while keeping it open prevented the user from accessing the information they needed.
The Solution
Inspired by Gmail's compose window, I introduced the ability to minimize the document form without closing it. The draft stays accessible at the bottom of the screen while the user continues navigating through Glance, collecting the information they need. Once they are ready, they can reopen the form and continue exactly where they left off.
Why It Works
Instead of forcing users to complete a task in one uninterrupted flow, the interface supports the way the work actually happens. Borrowing a familiar interaction pattern from Gmail also made the behavior immediately understandable without requiring a new convention. The result is a small interaction that removes friction from a much larger workflow.
